Juan C Ortiz
GET TO KNOW ME!
I’m a Latino actor, dancer, writer, and professional shower singer based in New York City.
Lately, I’ve been performing in plays like The Sound of Being Found, Labyrinth, Changeling Ballad, The Cherry Orchard (in both NYC and Italy), and The Seagull. On screen, you can catch me in The Eternal Night, Tarro and Donkey. I also created my own short film, Dance Therapy, where I directed, choreographed, and starred. It ended up winning Best U.S. Short Film, Best Actor, and a special mention for its script at festivals around the world (still not over that).
Before NYC, I worked in Colombia, including a recurring co-star role on Nadie Me Quita Lo Bailao broadcasted on RCN, one of Colombia’s most extensive television network. And also, did a comercial for the world renowned TV show Masked Singer Colombia. I’ve also had some pretty surreal moments, like performing at Madison Square Garden as a backup dancer in a sold-out concert. Very loud. Very fun. Zero complaints. Dance has always been a huge part of my life. I’ve trained for over six years and have won hip-hop championships in both Colombia and Mexico. Fun facts about me? Sure! I’m also stage combat certified (so if I punch someone on stage, it’s very controlled and very professional), fully bilingual in Spanish and English, I make a dangerously good virgin mojito, I will absolutely sing in the shower like I’m headlining a world tour, and I’m probably happiest when I’m creating something with people I love.
